Yahoo has debuted another original series today, this time on its Yahoo Autos site.
Produced by WATV Productions, “Open Road” is an auto/lifestyle series that will “uncover exotic car events” as well as offer car tips while also busting some myths about cars. The show is hosted by Andrew “ACP” Comrie-Picard, a man-of-all trades apparently when it comes to vehicles (his bio lists him as an ESPN X-Games medalist, a professional rally car driver, precision driver, automotive journalist, and TV host). He currently hosts “Battle Cross” on the Speed Channel and “Ultimate Car Build-Off” on the Discovery Channel.
“Open Road” is sponsored by Michelin.
Update: New episodes of “Open Road” will be made available on a weekly basis on Yahoo Autos. Twelve episodes are currently planned, with an average episode run time of 3–5 minutes.
WATV Productions was founded by Lenny Shabes and sports TV pioneer Roger Werner. Werner was a former COO and CEO at ESPN, and was instrumental in the development of Speedvision, which later became the Speed Channel, and Outdoor Life Network, which is now the NBC Sports Network. WATV Productions focuses on developing automotive and motorcycling TV programming for sports networks and, now, Yahoo.
