In the third installment of their ongoing “Inside” branded content series, Intel and Toshiba plan to launch a six-part web series called “The Power Inside,” which will allow fans to become part of the storyline via videos and photos uploaded to the web.
The web series, which Intel and Toshiba refer to as a “social film,” debuts on August 15 and stars Harvey Keitel, Craig Roberts, Analeigh Tipton, Reid Ewing, and Zack Pearlman. It’s directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon (“Blades of Glory”).
Roberts stars as Neil, a young man who has the power to save the world from an alien race called the Uricks, which are posing as mustaches and unibrows on people’s faces. Viewers can audition to be Uricks by uploading a webcam pic to the Inside Films Facebook page, which will then use facial recognition technology to add either a mustache or a unibrow to their face. Or to join the Guardians, users just need to upload a video of themselves removing a mustache form their face.
And since it’s branded content from Intel and Toshiba, the Intel-powered Ultrabooks from Toshiba will “play a prominent role” in Neil’s attempt to defeat the Uricks.
The previous series was called “The Beauty Inside” and was narrated by Topher Grace (“That ’70s Show”). It garnered three Grand Prix awards at Cannes and a Daytime Emmy for its efforts. Before that, the first series was simply called “Inside” and featured Emmy Rossum as a woman named Christina trapped with no connection to the outside world except for a (branded) laptop.
