In Netflix’s Q2 earnings report, the streaming company announced that it would begin incorporating more documentary series and stand-up comedy specials into its original line of programming. Since then, Netflix has kept up its promise announcing a handful of platform exclusive specials including Aziz Ansari’s “Buried Alive,” which debuts on November 1.
Pushing that bar further, comedian Marc Maron announced that his special “Thinky Pain” was released exclusively to Netflix today. The special will at first be available to all English-speaking countries with a global release date of October 21.
According to Maron, who announced this special on his podcast “WTF” this morning, “Thinky Pain” is a departure from large-scale comedy specials. The stand-up performance was recorded in front of around 240 people, according to the comedian.
