Crackle has picked up the second season of the McG-produced action/comedy web series “Aim High,” and will premiere it on December 9 across all of its platforms.
The critically-acclaimed spy comedy follows the adventures of “America’s most unsuspecting secret agent,” Nick Green, who still hasn’t finished high school. The new season, which spans four 22-minute episodes and was directed by Oscar-winning short film director Ari Sandel, adds new wrinkles into Green’s life, such as an attractive new partner.
The cast is headlined by Jackson Rathbone (“Twilight”) as Green. Aimee Teegarden (“Friday Night Lights”) joins the season two cast as Green’s love interest.
The series was created by Richie Keen and Heath Corson, who co-wrote the first season, which ran for six episodes as a “social series” on Facebook and Cambio.com. The first season, which was directed by Thor Freduenthal (“Diary of a Wimpy Kid”), was honored with a Writers Guild Award for outstanding achievement in writing for original new media, and is currently nominated for a BAFTA award in the category of “Children’s: Short Form in 2013.” The second season was written by Danny Mackey.
“Aim High” is produced by McG (“Chuck,” “Charlie’s Angel”), Lance Sloane, and Mary Viola, and executive produced by Rathbone. The show is also produced and distributed by Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.
In addition to the fresh batch of episodes, Crackle will also make the entire first season available on December 9.
“‘Aim High’ has proven to be very popular in its first season with a passionate fan base and as we continue to build our on our original programming, the series is a great addition to our portfolio of high-quality original programmed offerings,” said Eric Berger, GM of Crackle, in a statement. “We’re thrilled to give the award-winning series a new home at Crackle and greenlight an exciting new season with top talent and a stellar team of writers and producers.”
