UK-based youth music and entertainment label Ministry of Sound has renewed its deal with European MCN Base79.
Per the long-term agreement, Base79 will continue to oversee audience development, rights management, and monetization for the 16 YouTube channels started by Ministry of Sound brands and artists. It includes Ministry of Sound’s main YouTube channel, which currently has close to 235,000 subscribers. In total, Ministry of Sound’s network of channels reach more than 35 million subscribers.
Base79 and Ministry of Sound’s partnership goes back to 2009. With the renewal, the two companies will also “explore new opportunities in video subscription and off-YouTube distribution.” Base79 will also continue to manage the label’s connected-TV app.
As part of the agreement, Ministry of Sound artists and brands will also get the chance to collaborate with other Base79 content partners, in addition to receiving various cross-promotional opportunities.
Overall, this brings Base79’s music channel numbers to more than 100 partners and 300 million views per month. The MCN recently signed electronic superstar Tiesto to its network, which also includes artists like Richie Hawtin and Gilles Peterson.
