Bedrocket’s Official Comedy channel has partnered with YouTuber Cara Hartmann, the creator behind a fake eHarmony video bio clip that went viral two years ago, on a new scripted comedy series called “Debbie in LA.”
The series picks up from Hartmann’s “eHarmony Video Bio” clip, which has amassed more than 27 million views on YouTube to date. In that clip, Hartmann, in character as a cat-lover named Debbie, breaks down into hysterics as she records her bio video for the popular dating site. The series will follow Debbie, who moves to LA to meet someone who responded to her eHarmony video, only to find out that person is a talent agent who thought she was acting, and not actually that much obsessed with cats. Down on her luck, she tries to make it into Hollywood as an actress, with her army of cats by her side.
“There’s more to Debbie than just tears and cats. Not much more, but there’s more,” says Hartmann. “I’m excited for everyone to see Debbie out of her bedroom and in the real world!”
Launching today, the series will span 12 episodes, with two new installments going live every Friday for the next five weeks.
The first two episodes will premiere later today.
“Debbie in LA” is created by Hartmann and produced by Michael Busch and Official Comedy. Stefan Van Engen serves as the executive in charge of production for Official Comedy, which has more than 220,000 subscribers on YouTube.
