Starting today, Vevo is live in Mexico, the 14th country to host the live streaming music video platform. With more than 500 million views on their YouTube artist channel in Mexico just last month, it’s no surprise that Vevo’s own platform has traveled south now, too.
Marking the world’s second largest music market, Mexico will help Vevo enhance their impact on Latin America. Over 100,000 official music videos in HD will now stream in Mexico via the platform, along with original music programming and live concert events.
The expansion includes Vevo’s presence on the web as well as mobile/tablet and TV apps. Viewers in Mexico will also be able to watch Vevo TV, the music channel identifiable by its linear, broadcasting style. Of course, Vevo’s YouTube presence will remain accessible in the Spanish-speaking country, as well.
To start off the launch with a bang, Vevo will premiere new music videos by three, important artists of Mexican music. Juan Gabriel will showcase a playlist of live concert footage, while winners of multiple Latin Grammy Awards, Camila, will share a video from their third album, Elypse, for the single “Decidiste Dejarme.” Last but not least, Moderatto will reveal the video for “Voy A Ganar,” the official World Cup song for the nation.
This will get accomplished through the work of Alejandro Hernandez. The former U.S. Latin content coordinator at Vevo has taken on the role as content programming and label relations manager for Vevo Mexico.
