Mario Batali’s culinary/entertainment empire continues to expand with a new series on Hulu and Hulu Plus. Called “The High Road with Mario Batali,” its first episode went live on the platform today, with the remaining 11 episodes coming out on a weekly basis every Thursday.
Shot in black and white, each episode will show Batali sparring with a celebrity or major New York personality as they embark on a uniquely New York adventure. Episode one featured George Stephanopolous, journalist and political correspondent, who joined Batali for shuffleboard in Brooklyn’s Gowanus.
Produced by Via Alta Productions with Reyna Mastrosimone, Eyepatch Productions, Southdown Pictures, and Hyundai Motor America, “The High Road” will take viewers (along with Batali’s guest stars) to NYC locales such as the Frick Collection, the urban agricultural project known as Brooklyn’s Gotham Greens, and the New York Public Library. Some featured guests to look forward to in the season include Jimmy Fallon, Liv Tyler, Rachael Ray, former New York council member Christine Quinn, Isabella Rossellini, and several other impressive names in New York and the nation.
“My vision for ‘The High Road’ was to capture conversation with interesting people outside of their personal and professional domains,” describes Batali. “It’s my love letter to New York City.”
Batali founded Via Alta Productions, the group producing his new show, in 2012 in an effort to focus more on online entertainment. His other digital entertainment endeavors include “Batali Cooks 4,” which you can watch on his website.
