Digital Media Rights has selected Hulu to be the exclusive streaming VOD platform in North America for its catalog of Russian movies and TV shows.
The distributor says it’s been working with an array of major Russian studios, television networks, and distributors to curate a list of top titles from the company. Catalog titles include recent hits such as “Metro” and “Kiss Them All,” as well as classics like Sergei Eisenstein’s “October” and the drama series “Junior League.” In total, DMR has rights to more than 100 movies and TV shows from Russia, with the distributor actively looking to acquire more.
These selections will be available on Hulu and Hulu Plus in their native language in an effort to appeal to the “core” Russian-American community, DMR said. That said, the titles will be armed with English subtitles.
In addition to Hulu, these movies and TV shows will also be available on Indie-Crush.com, a video site owned by DMR dedicated to foreign and art-house titles.
