Event organizer Wizard World Inc., which is best-known for producing a series of Comic-Cons across the country every year, is launching Socialcon.
The two-day is set to debut at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago from August 23–24.
With an emphasis on connecting social media stars with their fans via meet-and-greets, concerts, other live performances, Q&A panels, autograph sessions, and various photo-ops, Socialcon has already recruited a number of top names from the online video world. These include YouTube stars like Kingsley, DeStorm Power, Anthony Quintal (Lohanthony), Tyler Ward, and Lilly Singh (Superwoman), as well as “The Fam Tour,” a group of Vine stars consisting of Nash Grier, Hayes Grier, Cameron Dallas, and Carter Reynolds.
“We are excited to bring stars with a combined tens of millions of followers to one place so that thousands of fans with whom they have interacted can meet them up close and personal,” said John Macaluso, Wizard World CEO, in a statement. “Several have appeared at our Wizard World Comic Cons and have been huge hits, so creating Socialcon, a series of events highlighting the social media stars, is a natural addition.”
Though taking place at the same time as Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con, Socialcon Chicago will be its own distinct event, with separate admission, programming, and show floor.
