Tim Hincks, president of Endemol Group since 2012, has been named president of a new production joint venture created as a result of the merger between reality-TV heavyweights Endemol, Shine Group, and Core Media Group.
In the new role, Hincks will work with the joint venture’s CEO Sophie Turner Laing to “develop and grow the creative and strategic direction” of the new company. Based in London and reporting to Turner Laing, he will have specific responsibility for the UK and US.
Hincks has been with Endemol since 1999, initially within the producer’s UK division. Roles have included creative director, chief creative officer, and eventually CEO of Endemol UK. In 2012, he was named president of Endemol Group, with responsibility over the company’s operations in the US and UK.
Once the merger is completed (expected to by the end of the year), the new Endemol-Shine-Core joint venture will be co-managed by 21st Century Fox and Apollo, with each company owning a 50% stake. The group’s businesses will have “creative operations” in 30 markets, with content ranging from traditional scripted and unscripted, to digital, gaming, and distribution operations.
Both Endemol and Shine have previously made investments in digital-only content via Endemol Beyond and Shine Digital, respectively.
