John McCarus, senior vice president and practice lead for social content at DigitasLBi, is no longer with the agency.
According to multiple sources familiar with the situation, McCarus left the agency three weeks ago after more than seven years there. It’s unclear where he is headed next.
When reached for comment, an agency spokesperson confirmed McCarus’ departure. “We thank John for his many contributions over the years and wish him the best,” the spokesperson said.
As SVP of social content, McCarus oversaw a national team of more than 40 people dedicated to DigitasLBi’s North American client base. His responsibilities included digital and social content strategy, development, and execution for clients such as American Express, L’Oreal, Taco Bell, and Sprint.
Outside of his work for DigitasLBi, McCarus is known for creating the Digital Content Newfronts, an annual series of upfront events in New York where some of the top online video companies showcase upcoming programming and video solutions. Before the IAB took control of the Newfronts in 2013, DigitasLBi and McCarus oversaw the event calendar.
