Under the deal, New Form is now the exclusive digital production partner for Is or Isn’t. To kick things off, the two companies are already in development on two series that will go into production this spring.
The first is a web series called “Shitty Boyfriends,” which is currently in pilot development, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which was the first to report on the news. Written by Jessica Chabot, “Shitty Boyfriends” centers on a cartoonist who’s trying to balance her feminism with her search for true love. The second series will be announced later this spring.
Launched by Discovery Communications and Hollywood producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard last year, New Form focuses on developing, producing, and distributing digital projects for digital audiences. The studio has worked with a cadre of YouTube stars to develop short films (as part of two incubator programs), and has content deals with the likes of AOL and Vimeo.
Is or Isn’t is best known best known for the HBO TV series “The Comeback” (which stars Kudrow) and the web-to-Showtime comedy series “Web Therapy” (which also stars Kudrow).
