Hispanic-targeting media company Univision Communications has hired former Google exec Mark Lopez to serve as executive vice president and general manager of Univision Digital.
In this new position at Univision Digital, Lopez will focus on making the company make more online revenue, specifically from native advertising. Lopez will also manage the business side of Univision’s digital platforms by working with the company’s sales, product, tech, and content teams.
He will report to the CEO of Univision and ABC joint venture, Fusion, and president of news and digital at Univision, Isaac Lee.
At Google, Lopez served as the head of US Hispanic audience sales beginning in 2010. Before that, Lopez was the chief operating officer at Spanish digital company Terra Networks USA, which he came to from AOL Latino, where he was responsible for all US Hispanic ad revenue, marketing, and business development.
“The addition of Mark at a time when our main focus is digital innovation and expansion speaks to our commitment to delivering a Univision branded experience everywhere our audience is and driving engagement across platforms,” said Lee in a statement.
