‘Food Network Star’ to Return with Companion Web Series
“Food Network Star” will premiere its upcoming season on Sunday, June 7 at 9pm ET, with the web series following on Sunday, June 28, after the TV series’ ET timeslot. “Star Salvation” gives eliminated chefs from the season a chance to get back into the competition (and onto TV).
Judged by Food Network personalities Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay, “Food Network Star” has 12 finalists this season who come from Los Angeles, Nashville, Staten Island, and several cities in between. Hosted by Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli and former “Food Network Star” winner Jeff Mauro, “Star Salvation” will give some of these contestants a second chance during its six, digital episodes. The winner of “Star Salvation” can re-join the competition on Sunday, August 9 — the second to last episode of the TV show’s season.
The TV/web series format here follows that of Bravo’s “Top Chef” and digital companion, “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen,” in which eliminated “Top Chef” contestants can compete for a chance to return to the TV series. “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen” appeared on Bravo’s website every night after “Top Chef” aired on TV.
