In days gone by, if a celebrity was making an in-store appearance to promote anything other than an album or a book, it was a sure sign their career was on the decline. With today’s digital influencers, brand sponsorships are a totem of success because, as Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid YouTube stars illustrated, they provide top online stars with the bulk of their income. So, for Viner Logan Paul, making series of Black Friday in-stores for teen-targeting clothing retailer Aéropostale is something boast-worthy, not shameful.
It helps that Paul is tackling the venture with a bit of creative panache. On Nov. 27, he will be visiting Aéropostale’s outlets from Scottsdale to Los Angeles, traveling from city to city via helicopter, then arriving at each location in a range of attention-grabbing vehicles, from a pink Cadillac and a vintage Bentley roadster to a monster truck. Along the way, Paul will gift a few shoppers with a free year of clothing from Aéropostale (#FreeYearOfAero).
Paul is part of the multi-channel network of Collective Digital Studio, which is mounting the promotion for Aéropostale.
This month, Paul begins filming his role starring opposite Peyton List (Disney Channel’s “Bunk’d”) in director Michael Gallagher’s Legendary Digital Entertainment feature length thriller “The Thinning,” which will be released direct to consumers via digital sell-through and video on demand.
