Group video calling app Oncam announced today that it has raised $7 million in growth capital in a round led by Tonn Investmests, and partnered with talent management firm Untitled Entertainment.
Oncam’s signature feature, Watch with Friends, allows users to watch YouTube videos while in private group video calls or while broadcasting to an unlimited amount of followers. Fans can watch as an influencer debuts their new video, seeing the influencers face, as well as the reactions and commentary of up to six users on screen at once.
“Oncam allows actors, directors, writers, musicians, athletes and everyone to control their integration into the public,” said Joshua Duke, managing principal, Technology, for Tonn Investments, in a statement. “They can speak honestly and openly to their fans, taking questions, face to face.”
While Oncam’s partnership with Untitled was just announced today, it has been working for some time with the management firm, whose clients include Britney Spears, Emma Watson, Penelope Cruz, Jared Leto, James Franco, Naomi Watts, Demi Moore and Sofia Vergara
“For the last 3 years, Untitled has been building a tech Manhattan Project out of the back of our Hollywood offices, with 30 engineers!” Jason Newman, senior manager of Untitled, told the crowd at the company’s annual Tradigital event in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. “Untitled can now have our talent connect with fans via seamless video like never before, adding them onscreen, taking questions. It is not just an app; it is an industry.”
The Oncam app is available from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
