Advances in live streaming capabilities are making online viewing more and more like the linear TV experience, with added bonus features. In the case of Amazon, which is first and foremost and online retailer, that means ecommerce.
Tonight, Amazon debuts its first daily live show, “Style Code Live,” a 30-minute program that features tips from style experts and viewers, along with a “Style Carousel” directly below the video player highlighting products available on Amazon as they are featured in the show, and a running list of links to products and topics discussed, including those that can be found off of Amazon.
Since the show is designed to move product as well as entertain and inform, it is not exclusive to Prime subscribers like Amazon’s other original content offerings (outside of pilot season). It will be free to stream by all viewers at www.amazon.com/stylecodelive, Monday through Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m PT, with a best-of show on Fridays. At launch, it will be available via web browsers, but Amazon plans to add a mobile experience soon.
“Style Code Live” will be hosted by Lyndsey Rodrigues (MTV’s “Total Request Live”), Rachel Smith (ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “Nightline”), and Frankie Grande (CBS’ “Big Brother,” “Rock of Ages” on Broadway).
The hosts will participate in live chats, responding to viewer questions and comments. The show will also feature live audience participation via the “Style Code Love Bag,” which viewers can click on to “applaud” segments and products throughout the show. The bag will fill as viewers click and release virtual confetti once it’s full.
Tonight’s premiere will feature Danielle Bernstein of fashion blog WeWoreWhat sharing her top three must-haves for spring, Grammy-winner Meghan Trainor talking fashion, beauty and her new single “No,” YouTube star Tati Westbrook’s beauty pick of the week, and an interview with actress Keri Russell on the red carpet of the premiere of the new season of her FX series “The Americans.”
