Dailymotion, the video platform headquartered from France and recently purchased by Vivendi, is expanding it’s global presence to include Taiwan. According to the company, more than 1000 videos are uploaded daily to Dailymotion from Taiwan, the stat that demonstrated a budding market for the international video company.
Asia as a market has become of greater focus for expansion for many international companies, but Taiwan, the “7th market for internet penetration,” according to data referenced in Dailymotion’s statement, has not been on the radar as much as China and Singapore. To support the companies positioning in the territory, Dailymotion has built a Traditional Chinese user interface to make for a seamless experience without language as a barrier.
“We are extremely proud to launch Dailymotion in Taiwan, as it represents the vision and strategy we have in mind for Asia : high quality content led by media and creators in dynamic markets. Taiwan is already a key market for us in terms of audience and we have been more than impressed by the quality and depth of its content industry scene,” said Dailymotion’s Head of Content for Asia, Antoine Nazaret. “Providing marketing support, additional reach, tools for monetization and content protection to key partners, our presence will be reinforced here.”
Dailymotion reaches over 300 million viewers monthly and has differentiated its product from competitors in the space as a tools-focused business rather than a strong UGC, consumer streaming destination. It has offices in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
