Amazon ordered a second season of its original kids show “Creative Galaxy” way back in Feb. 2015, but when new episodes might appear remained a mystery until today, when the ecommerce giant announced that it would premiere the new season on Prime Video on Sept. 16.
Produced by Out of the Blue Enterprises, “Creative Galaxy” was created by Angela Santomero (“Blue’s Clues,” “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” “Super Why!”), who also serves as executive producer with Samantha Freeman.
Voice actors Samantha Bee (“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”), Jason Jones (“The Daily Show”), Cloris Leachman (“The Mary Tyler Moore Show”), Jason Priestley (“Beverly Hills 90210”) and Brooke Shields (“Lipstick Jungle”) return for season two, along with a trio of new additions: singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb (“Jake and the Never Land Pirates”), Donovan Patton (“Blue’s Clues”) and Broadway actress Caissie Levy (“Les Miserables”).
The series follows alien Arty (Meesha Contreras) and his sidekick Epiphany (Kira Gelineau) as they travel around the galaxy solving problems using various forms of art. In season two, the galaxy expands as Arty introduces audiences to two new art forms (cooking and singing/dancing) with new planets and celebrity hosts — Cooktopia with Chef Zesty (Patton) and Grooveopolis with Melody (Loeb).
Amazon Prime Video has a robust children’s programming lineup that also includes “Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street,” “Annedroids,” “Tumble Leaf” and “Wishenpoof!,” the latter two of which was also created by Santomero. Last week, it announced it would premiere its new original kids series “The Stinky & Dirty Show,” based on the “I Stink!” book series by Kate and Jim McMullan, on Sept. 2 on Prime Video in the U.S. and the U.K., and in Germany, Austria and Japan later in the year.
