LA-based digital production shop Lifeboat Productions and Awesomeness TV’s women’s vertical “Awestruck” have moved into production on “Confess,” a new series for go90 adapted from the New York Times best selling romance novel, and Goodreads® Choice Award for Best Romance Novel of 2015.
Written by serial novelist and multi-time New York Times Best Selling writer Colleen Hoover, the series follows the secrets kept within relationships to protect the ones we love. The lead roles have been cast including Auburn Reed, played by Katie Leclerc (“Switched at Birth”), Owen Gentry, played by Ryan Cooper (MTV’s “Eye Candy”) and Lydia, played by Sherilyn Fenn (“Shameless”).
The project marks the first scripted series for Awestruck, the young adult female, mom-centric platfrom from Awesomeness TV, and is being adapted and directed by Elissa Down.
“We’re committed to making the type of content women want to watch, and there’s nothing like a good romance,” said Executive Producer Lisa Berger. “Developing Confess, our first scripted series, is the next step in the Awestruck evolution.”
It is executive produced by Lifeboat’s Amy Kim and Jaime Burke, Lauren Levine, Colleen Hoover, Brian Robbins, Brett Bouttier, and Lisa Berger.
“I’m excited that my partners at Awestruck are transforming my novel, Confess, into a scripted series,” said Hoover, in a release. “I’ve poured my heart and soul into the romance genre and am honored that my work will now be visually represented for readers everywhere.”
The series will premiere in early 2017 exclusively on go90 and represents one of many titles being distributed on Verizon’s mobile-first streaming service, which has to date streamed over 250 hours of programming.
