Why Amazon, Netflix, Apple, and YouTube are trying to court India.
The OTT business in India is booming. With an estimated 29 companies fighting for control of the OTT Market, the industry is up for grabs. Not even Netflix, which has a total of 100-million subscribers (over half outside the U.S.) has a lock on the country. In fact, despite recently throwing more money into Indian programming, the streaming giant only has around 4.2 million subscribers in the country -- which isn't much compared to Indian streaming service HotStar, which has over 63 million subscribers, or even Amazon who has about 9.5 million more subscribers in the region.
