Comcast announced plans today to add Netflix to subscription packages across the country. As of yet, the company has not released details about pricing and packaging of the TV bundle, which is expected to go live in the coming months and will vary by market.
Under the partnership, Netflix-related billing will be handled by Comcast. Xfinity TV customers that are existing Netflix subscribers will be able to transfer their accounts to Comcast’s billing system when they launch the Netflix app on X1.
This isn’t the first partnership of its kind for Netflix. Recently, the streamer teamed up with satellite broadcaster Sky to include Netflix in pay-TV packages across the U.K. and Europe. Additionally, wireless provider T-Mobile bundles Netflix with its family-plan unlimited wireless tiers.
According to Comcast, 50% of Xfinity X1 subscribers actively use Netflix, which has become one of the most-viewed services overall on the platform.
