AOL has hired Brian Balthazar as executive producer and head of programming for AOL.com.
In a blog post by Maureen Sullivan, a veteran marketing executive at AOL who recently was awarded oversight of AOL.com, Sullivan said: “[Balthazar] will play a leading role in the future of AOL.com as we program a loved and engaging destination for our loyal viewers.”
Balthazar, a longtime television executive, comes to AOL from HGTV where he was director of original programming and development. In this role, he oversaw more than 500 hours of programming for the network, including shows like “House Hunters” and “Selling NY/Selling LA.” Prior to HGTV, Balthazar spent time at NBC and the “Today Show,” where he helped launch the fourth hour of programming, co-hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, for the weekday-morning television staple.
He will join AOL/AOL.com in January.
