‘Travel Like the Locals with Darley’ Takes a Trip to Scripps’ Digital Platform ulive
Scripps Networks’ digital platform ulive.com has added DCN Entertainment’s “Travel like the Locals with Darley” to its slate of travel programming.
Released today, the series follows Emmy-nominated TV host Darley Newman and a cast of local people as they globe-trot the world showcasing culture, food, and accessible travel adventures from the eyes of those who live there. Nine episodes went live today with a tenth forthcoming.
Adapted for online and loosely based on Darley’s Emmy-winning show on PBS, “Equitrekking,” “Travel Like the Locals with Darley” is produced by DCN Entertainment for first-run distribution on ulive.com, a deal which comes close on the heels of a separate distribution deal with AOL for a similar show called “Travels with Darley,” which was released in January. Chip Ward of DCN Entertainment tells us both “Travel Like the Locals with Darley” and “Travels with Darley” were developed with Scripps’ ulive and AOL in mind. Both shows were shot at the same time as “Equitrekking” to, as they say, kill multiple birds with one stone.
Other travel related shows on ulive include “Almost Free: Miami Beach” hosted by travel guru Sonia Gil, “Destination Fabulous,” “Samantha Brown: Have Kids? Let’s Travel,” “Newest Travel Trends,” and “Trip Smart.”
