Collins Avenue, a LA-based producer of reality programming, has signed Vine star Alx James to an exclusive reality TV development deal.
James has accumulated nearly 5 million followers since joining Twitter’s six-second video platform in July 2013, and has additional social reach that includes more than 72,000 subscribers on YouTube, half-a-million followers on Instagram, and 180,000 followers on Twitter. He’s used that audience in the past to ink campaigns with brands such as Sonic Restaurants and Ritz Crackers.
He will now work in tandem with Collins Avenue and Content Media Corporation, the producer’s content and distribution partner, to develop reality projects.
“We believe [James’] memorable character spoofs, distinctive voices, and extraordinary ability to tell a compelling story with a beginning, middle, and end in just six seconds will allow us to expand the bounds of reality television in innovative new ways,” said Collins Avenue president Jeff Collins in a statement.
Collins Avenue, working in partnership with Content Media, has produced reality fare such as “Dance Moms” and its multiple spin-offs for Lifetime, “The Drama Queen” for E!, “American Stuffers” for Animal Planet, “Outrageous Kid Parties” for TLC, and “American Colony: Meet the Hutterites” for National Geographic Channel.
