The new sports network named for the number of minutes it takes to deliver their original programming, 120 Sports, announced its sponsors yesterday in time for its Wednesday launch. The sponsors include Geico, Nissan, Transamerica, and Verizon Wireless.
With the sponsorships comes the promise of some branded features. Interactive data cards will also showcase the sponsors’ messages in real-time, a patented integration strategy that 120 Sports deems “natural and less disruptive.”
The show’s hosts include Michael Kim (formerly a host of ESPN) and Dave Ross, an experienced producer, reporter, and anchor, along with Tyler Jacobs. Professional (former) football players Bryant McFadden and Ovie Mughelli will co-host. McFadden won the Super Bowl twice with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals, while Mughelli used to play as a fullback on the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta Falcons.
Two women also join the male-dominated 120 Sports cast. Alex Schlereth grew up surrounded by the professional athletes in her family, and Laura Britt has prior experience as a sports anchor and reporter.
MLBAM built the 120 Sports platform, unveiling it to the pubic earlier on this June. The linear network delivers live and on demand videos on a 24-hour basis through an app built for mobile devices and tablets, while also showing its content online on the 120 Sports website as well as other digital platforms.
120 Sports is owned by NHL, MLB.com, Campus Insiders, Time Inc./Sports Illustarted and Silver Chalice.
