From “Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman and Skydance Productions (“Star Trek: Into Darkness”), the half-hour comedy tells the story of two rivals whose lives are turned upside down when they learn their husbands love each other and plan to get married. This leads to the ladies forming an unexpected friendship.
Waterston will play one of the husbands, alongside Martin Sheen. The leads are played by Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, reuniting more than 30 years after co-starring in “Nine to Five.”
Netflix has ordered 13-episodes, which will debut sometime in 2015.
Executive producers include Kauffman, Howard J. Morris, Fonda, Tomlin, Paula Weinstein, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross. Tate Taylor (“The Help”) is executive producing and directing the first episode.
Waterston’s casting comes as he’s about to end his run on Aaron Sorkin’s HBO drama “The Newsroom.”
