Four years ago, Piers Morgan of “America’s Got Talent” told dancing violinist Lindsey Stirling that she sounded like “drowned rats being strangled.” He may just have to hang his head (finally) as the YouTube star returns to the show as a featured performer.
Having joined YouTube in 2007 (when she once posted a video showcasing her talent in hopes of making an appearance on “The Ellen Degeneres Show”), Stirling now has over 5 million subscribers on the video platform. Her most recent album, “Shatter Me,” made it to №2 on the Billboard charts. This followed her self-titled album, “Lindsey Stirling,” released in September 2012.
It’s difficult to imagine Stirling garnering this level of success without YouTube. After her rejection on “America’s Got Talent,” she started working with Devin Graham (better known as Devin Supertramp) to create the sorts of high-quality videos showcased today on her popular YouTube channel. Stirling built up momentum there, moving on to various collaborations and multiple performance tours.
Though Piers Morgan did recently make amends to Stirling via Twitter, being a featured guest on the show should provide even more palpable closure to the formerly spurned YouTube star. Here’s a preview of what to expect during the show, which will air tomorrow night at 7pm ET.
