According to Marvel, Eka Darville is joining the cast as Malcolm, a neighbor of Jones’s whose own journey will intertwine with her quest in a surprising way; Erin Moriarty will play Hope, a young girl who becomes a client of Alias Investigations; and Wil Traval will appear as a NYPD cop who takes “protect and serve” very seriously.
The trio will join a cast headlined by Krysten Ritter as the titular Jones, David Tennant as the villainous Kilgrave, Mike Colter as ally Luke Cage (who’s set to get a Netflix series of his own), Rachael Taylor as best friend Trish, and Carrie-Anne Moss in an as-yet-unnamed role.
“Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones” was developed by executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. It’s produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix, as part of a multi-series pact to expand the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The series follows Jessica Jones, whose stint as a superhero is cut short by a tragedy. She’s then forced to rebuild her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
