UK-based independent TV production company Icon Films is launching a YouTube channel for its “River Monsters” series.
Icon Films is working with digital content producer and distributor, Little Dot Studios, on the channel, which will feature behind-the-scenes footage and original highlight videos from the show. Two new, short-form videos will come out on the channel every week.
“River Monsters” stars biologist/extreme angler Jeremy Wade as he travels the world to reveal the truth behind various myths involving giant fish. It’s been sold to 109 territories, said Icon Films, including the US, where it’s on Animal Planet.
Right now if you search “River Monsters” on YouTube, you’ll find an Animal Planet branded channel that includes all episodes of seasons one through seven of the series, each of which are available for purchase for $1.99. The new channel (if it is a indeed a new one, which it seems like it will be) will be part of Little Dot Studios’ network of YouTube channels for TV shows. Little Dot will design and produce for the “River Monsters” channel and work on growing its subscriber base.
Season eight of “River Monsters” is currently in production and will premiere on TV in 2016.
