Luxury automaker Lexus announced today that it has teamed with boutique digital studio Above Average on an 8-episode second season web series “Hudson Valley Ballers.” The first four episodes debuted Wednesday on AboveAverage.com and the Lexus-owned streaming site LStudio.com. The latter half of the season will be released in August.
Based on the lives of its stars James Anderson and Paula Pell, a pair of former “Saturday Night Live” writers who created the show with Michelle Lawler, it focuses on a pair of best friends forced to open a Hudson Valley bed and breakfast after being “semi-fired” from their jobs at a fictionalized version of “SNL.”
The new season taps many familiar faces, including Rachel Dratch (“SNL”), Alex Karpovsky (“Girls”), Greta Lee (“Wayward Pines”), Cecily Strong(“SNL”) and Mickey Sumner (“Frances Ha”).
Launched in 2012 by “SNL” producer Broadway Video, Above Average has a produced web series featuring a long list of high-profile talent, including “SNL” cast members Kate McKinnon and Vanessa Bayer, “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin, music parodist “Weird’ Al” Yankovic, and rocker Jack Antonoff.
