Today, Geek & Sundry and Beanduck Productions announced the premiere of season 2 of their original series “LARPs.”
“LARPs” follows the adventures of a group of live action role players, both in an out of costume, as they cope with the trials of everyday life and the challenges of an elaborate world of fantasy role play. The series channels the spirit of “The Guild,” the iconic web series that made Geek & Sundry founder Felicia Day a digital star with its zany-but-heartfelt portrayal of the table top role players.
The second season of “LARPs” was funded by an Indiegogo campaign that raised $41,510 Canadian for the Montreal-based production.
“With Geek & Sundry and our Indiegogo backers supporting us, we’ve been able to give LARPs a fantastic level-up,” said “LARPs” writer and cast member Jon Verell in a statement. “We’re giving you more: more cast, more fights, and more content, with well over double the runtime of our previous season. Not just more, though: we’re giving you better.”
Both Amber Goldfarb (“Helix,” “Assasin’s Creed III:Liberation & Black Flag”) and Mark Camacho (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) join the cast for season 2, which debuts today on Geek & Sundry’s YouTube channel. Vessel subscribers will be able to see new episodes of “LARPs” a week ahead of their debut on YouTube.
New episodes will roll out weekly along with the rest of Geek & Sundry’s new season slate, which includes “Omnibus,” with Amy Dallen and Hector Navarro, “Signal Boost,” curating cool geek items from around the world, and new episodes of the original series “Critical.” For more from Geek & Sundry’s catalog check out this week’s Web Series Wednesday, highlighting some of our favorites from the geeky outlet.
