After a disappointing start to the Premier League with a shockingly low 50% win rate, we finally see a ray of hope amongst the Spurs ranks. With a record of conceding 16 goals and a negative 7-goal difference, it seemed Tottenham was out of the title race. However, with Conte’s appointment as Tottenham’s new manager, the team appears to be in new spirits given their 3-2 home victory over Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League.
The new manager is determined to turn Tottenham back into their usual selves and contenders for the trophy. He was confirmed as the club’s manager on a £15m-a-year contract to June 2024 with an option to extend if all parties are satisfied. Conte’s return to the English Premier League was especially well received by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola who welcomed and spoke highly of the newly-appointed Italian manager.
“First of all, welcome back to England, to the Premier League.
“His career speaks perfectly for itself. He has had success everywhere. An absolutely outstanding manager.”
Conte also has quite a list of achievements behind him, including titles won in Serie A, a hat-trick of Scudettos with Juventus, the Premier League and managed Italy, leading the Azzurri to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.
Previously, Antonio Conte was being considered as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Man United boss recently when the Red Devils were struggling to perform. However, it seems not all are particularly welcoming to the Italian manager. According to a report, Cristiano Ronaldo did not want to see his former Juventus boss take over at Manchester United. The Portuguese star, and one of Sportingbet’s deadliest strikers in all of Europe, is unconvinced by Conte’s defensive style of play.
While that may be true in Ronaldo’s perspective, Conte is already proving his potential at Tottenham as fans watched the Hotspurs tear into a 3-0 lead after 28 minutes into the game. Thanks to stunning performances from Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min and an own-goal from Jacob Rassmussen due to pressure from Harry Kane, Tottenham sealed their victory.
Speaking post-match, Conte claimed: “We need time. We need time to work. We need time to work,” Conte said. “This is the only aspect that, not I’m afraid, but I’d like to have time to work.
“This time and I, we need to work together to bring them my idea of football and to work tactical aspects, physical aspects, to know them, much better than now.
“This is the only aspect that I am a bit scared, a bit afraid. But I know that there is this type of situation, and for this reason, we need a bit of patience”
Despite clamoring for more time to bring his idea to fruition with his new found team, Antonio Conte will looking to quickly muster up some success cocktail to ensure that the north London team have some chances of playing Champion League next season.
Though, there have been some Premier League teams having difficulty in exerting their dominance – while some are blazing there opponent apart in thrilling fashion but the White Hart Lane team under the guidance of the Italian tactician should be something better than his predecessors
In fact, with his record of been a serial winner that have won it all in his coaching cadre irrespective of where he found himself, the Spurs fans across the globe are beginning to salivate for what is coming there way through the season with their new found coach.
Moreover, there was an excitement to the the fans that the team was on the right track after the explosive start to life in Premier League under the guidance of Jose Mourinho also after Spurs defeated the Manchester United 6-1 in the league but they soon found themselves on the wrong foot with series of defeats prior to the sacking of the Portuguese
Unlike the start to life that Mourinho gave to Spurs in the league which started with a defeat, Nuno Espírito Santo tenderly start with a semblance of hope with three Premier League wins without conceding a goal
But with Harry Kane looking lost, Son Heung-Min looking rust and Spurs inability to give a devastating attacking player under Nuno.
With Conte, many are beginning to see glimpse of what is yet to come as they all witnessed an attacking prowess from the team in the Italian first 30 minutes of Tottenham Hotspurs.
Just like how he began to exert his influence in his first Premier League cameo when he coached Chelsea to Premier League victory, Conte slowly began to transform his Chelsea side to a wholesome team before his Chelsea began to blaze every team aside.
But with Spurs, Conte have the luxury of turning things around, while bringing the board, the fans and players together to achieve his aim like he did with Chelsea before thing began to fall apart in the following season
But watching Conte’s team play will surely bring the fans to terms as he Italian tactician as always price his team with tentative and free flowing counter attacking football.
In fact, since Mauricio Pochettino was received of his Spurs duty, Tottenham is yet to play their vibrant attacking football – though, Mourinho time in charge provide a nice feelings for many fans, but Nuno Espírito Santo as the Spurs coach really brought down the moral of the fans with less believe
However, with Conte, many have began to show interest and while his previous performances from Chelsea and Inter have spelt out the excitement yet to unfold, but the appointment of Conte has got the Spurs fans believed once again
